Spiritual Painting

Without a doubt a perceptive painting, with my dear younger sister Diana Sofía Zambrano as the model. The painting kept transforming throughout the process, from a subject foreign to both her and me, until it returned to my origins in the Spirit collection.

I wanted to find in my mind the capacity and the magnitude of empathy between the viewer and my paintings; perhaps most painters try to achieve this. In the end it became the goal of the painting itself: painting stops being a simple aesthetic representation and becomes the need to be the painter who achieves the masterpiece, the essence of the Spirit collection.

I have stopped being myself, I have become paint. The superficial is now a lightness that blurs into what truly matters. My essence as a painter must be immense — but will people notice it? Will they understand the obsession of being a painter? Will I manage to move people’s hearts?... I do not know, but it is my duty to try. After all, I was born for this; I decided it myself.
